Omg, I have all my interviews in! The relief is so sweet. To celebrate, I made kickass soup - contains broccoflower, leek and bacon, potato and carrot, along with just a dash of vindaloo paste (mm, instant spice). Then at the end I added milk and cashew nuts on top.

I am also on the CTU mailing list - and there are vacancies coming up real soon, it would seem! Unfortunately I just missed out on a cool job with the Nurses' Union, but I emailed Leila Harre anyway and made enthusiastic noises, just in case.

In short, I feel really productive. Good times yesterday - both at school and not (though my shoes are definitively dead. laputain, I have a pair of yours, which I am going to polish up and return to your office in due course.) Lots of fun at Faculty Board, which (as always) involves me talking a lot for a good cause... and various cute mishaps. Also met a nice new friend; that's always welcome. And then I went to darthsappho's house (you are a champ) and had yummy vegetarian burritos, and had my hair brushed. A rare luxury.

Oh cool! Stephie from Linguistics just called, and she's going to book my equipment for next Thursday... I'm also seeing Hamish for coffee and a chat next week sometime... tonight there's the poetry reading (which I'll have to get something together for) and on Saturday I am popping out to Animation Now! at Paramount, which will be fun, I hope. Apparently I missed a real gem with the Yuri Norstein shorts the other day - A waxed lyrical about it. (maybe he just likes hedgehogs.)

And what else is going on? Next Thursday is also another strike... so I'll be there helping out... and we have a film night. Tuesday, there's a guest lecturer from Oxford speaking - and next Saturday vizi's flat is getting warmed. I can't remember what the theme is though - it is some kind of costumed affair. Jenn Jones is holding her 22nd birthday party next Wednesday... suddenly I seem to have sprouted a social life! I wonder if I can drag Rueben out to play the "VUWSA wife"

So yes, wow, things are busy but in a nice way. Then there are the essays, due on the 4th and the 11th respectively, and my Latin commentary (which I'll have to choose a passage for) - not as nice but still a bit of fun.
Jeebus, I'm overcommitted.
:)

your life definitely has an X-treme x-factor going on there. By the way, about the School of Humanities Postraduate Seminar...the one you are presenting a Linguistics paper for - are people allowed to come in and sit on it? I'd like to be present - just to see what postrad students get up to, for future reference. I think I asked you this a while ago...should I check with teachers about this? I'm sure I'll be allowed an entrance...

and good luck with your presentation!

Theme is Gods and Goddesses.

Jobs - there will be election jobs going for September 17, will probably be advertised in the paper shortly.
